On 4 May, Culbaba Theatre proudly took part in Hastings Traditional Jack in the Green for the second year running – one of the most vibrant and beloved traditional festivals in the UK.
On the first weekend of May, Culbaba Theatre was delighted to take part in Ethno Echo, a cultural event held at Brighton Unitarian Church that brought together artists, makers, performers and visitors from many different countries to celebrate Ukrainian heritage.
On Sunday, 12th April, Culbaba Theatre brought the local community together in Egerton Park to share Ukrainian Easter traditions and to step into the celebration of spring — together.
Some songs survive wars, borders and time — simply because someone keeps singing them.
Today members of Culbaba Theatre stood together with our community at the Bexhill War Memorial and laid a wreath in remembrance.

Culbaba Theatre is a Ukrainian non-for-profit cultural organisation based in East Sussex. Founded by Ukrainian women now living in the UK, we are dedicated to preserving and presenting authentic Ukrainian traditional song, ritual and theatrical heritage.
Our work is shaped by research, historical awareness and professional artistic leadership to ensure that what we share reflects cultural depth rather than surface representation.
At the same time, our work remains human. Rehearsals are spaces of learning and continuity; performances are moments of shared attention and respect. We aim to present Ukrainian heritage with depth, clarity and care — not as decoration, but as living tradition.
