A Day to Celebrate Bexhill

Published on 16 August 2026 at 05:56

Bexhill Day has become one of those occasions that brings the town together. Local organisations, performers, volunteers, businesses and residents all play their part, creating a day that reflects the character of Bexhill itself.

We were delighted to be part of this year's celebration.

Throughout the day, our stand became a place for conversations, introductions and reunions. Some people stopped to listen to Ukrainian songs for the first time. Others came to see familiar faces, find out what we have been working on, or simply spend a few minutes chatting. By the end of the day, we had met new supporters, reconnected with old friends and introduced many more people to the work of Culbaba Theatre.

Events like Bexhill Day remind us how much community life depends on people coming together in person. A conversation that starts at a festival can lead to a new friendship, a future collaboration or someone deciding to join an activity for the very first time.

Over the past few years, Culbaba Theatre has become a familiar part of Bexhill's cultural life. Through performances, workshops, exhibitions and community projects, we have had the opportunity to share Ukrainian culture with local audiences while building strong relationships across the town. Bexhill Day gave us another chance to do what we enjoy most: meet people, tell our story and add our voice to a celebration that belongs to the whole community.

We are proud to call Bexhill home and grateful for the welcome and support we continue to receive here.

Our thanks go to Bexhill Heritage and Bexhill-on-Sea Town Council for organising another successful event and to the many volunteers whose hard work made the day possible.

A special thank you to Susan Gedge and to everyone who stopped to say hello, ask questions, listen to the music or spend some time with us.

Days like this do not happen on their own. They are created by the people who show up, take part and help build a sense of community. We are pleased to be among them and already looking forward to next year's celebration.
